It's official.....

Yep...another storm day! there was nothing going on when i got up at 7am this morning so I got kiddo up for school, got me showered and lunches made. she sits down to eat breakfast...we turn on the radio (still nothing going on outside yet) only to find out school has been cancelled for the day! WHAT???? omg....so i go tell hubby this who is still sleeping and since he still wasnt feeling 100% still and came home early from work yesterday he is going to stay home with kiddo instead of making her go to work with me....she is thrilled to say the least...lol.

when we were listening to the radio again about weather and storm watch the announcer said that it should be starting anytime now with what is showing on the radar and sure enough....i looked outside and it was slowly starting. MOTHERF'R!

the weather is calling for snow to start this morning...heavy at times through out day 15-20cm expected this afternoon and early evening.

*insert sarcasm here*....OH its going to be such a great day! (note the mood im in to the right)

im heading to work in just over a hour and i know that with school being out now and the storm just starting im in for a very busy morning. im just hoping that my relief person will make it in at 2:30pm. hubby joked that she should remember to bring her sleeping bag and food since we never close and we must be there to keep the store open...lol

my only hope is that we are plowed out saturday morning before noon time because kiddo and hubby both have hair cut appointments. kiddo really needs one and is past the length allowed for cadets if she wants to continue to wear her hair down and not pulled back into a bun. we shall see.

Unbelievable!.....

got up this morning and hubby informed me that we are under a winter storm warning again for tomorrow. ...and guess who opens the store tomorrow....ME! from what the warning/watch says its going to get worse as the day goes on so opening the store should be no problem at all. the only worry i have is if the storm starts to get worse before school gets out and they close school early which means we have to figure out what we are going to do since i have to work until 3pm when school normally gets out. i cant just leave. hubby says he will cab it home or get a ride from someone and either have kiddo walk home in the mess or if someone gives him a ride home they can whip by the school and get kiddo. I DONT KNOW! just have to wait and see what comes of this. good thing im not working saturday when they say by saturday morning we will have at least 15cm of snow again on the ground. wohoo! im sure it will all be done by the time i have to be at work again sunday morning. ??? its supposed to be sunny and a high of 3c sunday....we are on a weather roller coaster this month.

I guess an update is overdue.....

So on easter sunday most of the town was snowed in and the roads were crap. our street finally got plowed out sometime after noon and our property management plow did the driveway just after 1pm. i headed out to work about 1:25 taking a bit long to get there with the roads being a bit slushy and full of drifts.

when i get closer to work i notice the parking lot was just being plowed and couldnt get in so i parked it in the next parking lot over until he was done...getting into work just after 2pm and opening the store at 2:20pm. i had a total of 4 customers in 3 hours. i just dont understand why we even had to open that day at all.

I almost didnt get out of there at 5:30 (actually left at 5:50pm) cuz my relief person that was to work at 5pm showed up and then said he had to leave after being there for only 5 minutes because he was having a panic attack and just bolted. its bad enough that i had to work easter sunday and put all my family stuff on hold until i get home but it was managable...then this. i was pissed. so i called the manager to let him know what happened. with all this going on hubby is sick also with a flare up of his diverticulious and i had to get to the drug store before it closed at 6pm in addition to fixing easter dinner for my family.

the manager first said he would come and let me head out to the pharmacy and then come back to work the rest of the day. i was somewhat shocked and i think i sounded a bit angry with him and told him i couldnt i had family things going on at home and i was supposed to be off at 5:30 even if i had only worked 3 hours. my family comes first in my world.

so manager came in since one of the other girls was snowed in and the other guy we have working for us doesnt know how to run the store on his own. we are short staffed again...can you tell?

easter sunday was the longest day in my life for some reason. the stress of getting out of the house that morning then the fiasco with "panic attack boy" and feeling bad for the manager to come in on his day off. but im sorry to say this....thats why HE is the manager and IM NOT.

hubby as been sick all weekend with major pains in his side and taking my tylenol#2 to help ease the pain until we can get him into the doctors monday morning. kiddo had been sick also this weekend with a major sinus cold...so she was lucky to have that 4 day weekend.

doctor wrote hubby out of work for a few days for his symptoms to calm down with antibiotics and pain meds. he is doing a little better today (weds). not sure yet if he is going to work tomorrow.

this post is turning into whine central.....

one comment about my knee....its killing me. still havent been able to go back onto my knee meds just yet so its just not a topic of great joy with me.

other then that things are just grand. im sure there are other things i can ramble about but my mind went blank on my just now for some reason. hope you had a wonderful easter weekend and start to the work week.

Green Christmas...White Easter.....

first off....HAPPY EASTER!

Yep...thats what we have here today....WHITE! we are having blizzard conditions since last night and im freaking out. why you ask...because im supposed to open the store today and im not sure what to do. i looked outside my front door and the drift is knee deep all the way down the sides of the car and down to the street. the snow is supposed to let up this afternoon and all that but this is the first time this has happened to me on a day that i have to open the store.

im planning on calling the manager to ask him what to do. postpone the store open until i can get out? take a cab if the cabs are running is my other option (he said he would compensate me for doing that if needed).

its nasty outside. im going to call him in 30 minutes to see what we are doing with the store.

.....more later on this. hubby took a couple pictures of yesterday outside for me and i will get a few from today to show you how much snow we got.

9:35am edit.....called cab company and they arent running this way yet....called store manager to let him know....he called district manager with no answer...so im on hold until at least noon when he calls me back to let me know what to do.

ever have one of those moments when you forget if you took your daily pills? im having one of those this morning/afternoon. cant remember if i took my knee pill or not and i have a headache from the cold wind outside and sinuses buggin me....grrr. since im not sure if i did take my pill i have to wait until my next pill time to take one....what a pain in the butt.

we shall see if its a snow day tomorrow when we wake up and listen to the radio at 7am. kiddo has her hopes high and was upset we didnt have one today also...lol she's so lucky to even have a chance at snow days....when i was a kid living in so. california there isnt such thing as a snow day unless you live up in the mountains.

WooHoo...shortly followed by a loud YIKES!...

we finally got our snow yesterday! somewhere around 10cm and school was on a one hour delay to clean up the streets a bit before letting the muchkins make their way. the snow on top of my car had to have been at least 6 inches deep. driving was messy on the roads but it was so nice to finally have snow.

but today....YIKES! our temps are wicked cold. we finally also got the major cold that is hitting a lot of north america. this morning the temp was -20c/-2f with windchill being -33c /-24f (my F temp might be a little off but close...either way its friggin COLD!

with the windchill so low school was cancelled for the day so i only had to get the hubby off to work and back home i am until i have to pick him up later today. burrrrr! no need to go out so im staying in.

a little bit of everything....

I have to say last night I laughed more at a tv show then i have in a very long time. we were watching the Saturday Night Live. hubby taped this past weekend for me since Justin Timberlake was hosting and thought i might be interested in it (he is so sweet). if you missed it you have to see if you can find it on youtube...(here is the link to one of the skits)...it was consistantly funny and OMG i almost peed my pants a couple times laughing. oh....and we also watched that new game show on nbc...Identity. it wasnt bad at all. we had fun playing along guessing the identity of each person.

we have a few flurries this morning...but nothing much to give us a white christmas. funny how four winters has changed my perspective on what a white christmas really is. it feels very odd for us not to have snow right now (from what i know).

all my shopping is done and i've wrapped a few things. going to finish up the wrapping today. HO HO HO!

im reading a new book for the holiday season....i bought a series of books only cuz the one that is out currently now is the 3rd in a series so i had to get the other 2 and start from the beginning. its Deck the Halls by mary and carol higgings-clark. im really enjoying the book since the series of books revolve around the christmas time.

an update on the knee....its just ok. still hurts but not a 10 on the scale. it peaks around a 7 now and not as often. the pills im taking can take up to 2 weeks for them to be in the system full stregnth and im a week down tomorrow. im having to take a tylenol#2 to sleep at night ...i tried going without it for 4 nights but the knee just wouldnt let me sleep so i took on last night and slept a little better...but not great. one day at a time.
