Oh No!...the transformation is really happening....
When I was walking out of Walmart this morning pushing the shopping cart to my car I said something out loud to myself and was in shock i actually said it without even thinking. the weather this morning was -26c and I had made sure I had my jacket zipped up, gloves on and even my hat on.
what was it I said? "It's right some cold out here." followed by a loud shiver...then shudder. I cant believe i actually said that! why suprised? well....when i moved here i had never heard someone say anything was "right some". not sure if its a Canadian thing but it sure is an "Island" thing here.
there are lots of slang sayings here. It took me over 4 years now to call soda "pop"...but i cringe when i do only feeling like i have to say it this way or nobody will know what im talking about. I have to remember to say washroom...not restroom...again...seems like i confuse people when i say that. oh...and dont get me started on the lunch being called dinner and dinner being called supper. *eyeroll*
i dont know how to explain it...the whole thing about conforming to the accent around here or any other place i might live. the only time im conscious of saying these slang terms is when im being silly and usually only around hubby. but this morning...it wasnt a joke and i wasnt being silly....it just came flying out of my mouth. lol
on that note...after this mornings little blurb that come out of my mouth I think my blood is a redder shade of red and im becoming more of a Canadian with everyday that passes. YAY ME!
note: wow...did what i just write make any sense at all? what a ramble.
hugs....
